4/16/10 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Friday

Today my world came to a screeching halt. At first, I was soaring on cloud 9. Thursday morning my Dad came home from the surgical center at 7:30 am. He was in pain but in good spirits. He was laughing and joking with my Mom and me. He's never done that the day after a surgery in the past four times. He did complain of no appetite and a bloated stomach; all of which we thought normal the day after surgery. While he was not comfortable, he was reading the paper, texting, and doing things the day after surgery I had never imagined. To top it all off, he said he felt immediate relief in both of his legs (the hope of all the surgeries had been to alleviate shooting pains in his legs too)...I can't help it, who wouldn't be ecstatic with this news?!! The doctor even thought he could start bike riding and gardening again in just six weeks. I was skeptical of these things, but if his legs were feeling better, maybe this was finally the surgery that had done the trick. Maybe my Dad would be able to really start living again. My Mom and i were all smiles all day. I left the house in late afternoon high with happiness. I called my Mom at about 6 and he was still doing well. This couldn't be better news. But, then things did a 360...
